Cable Infrastructure
The Data Center for this national labor-management fund included the design and installation of 24 communication cabinets. Six cabinets are dedicated to computer applications and vendor communication. Six cabinets house 400 dual Cat 5e cables to support two floors in the building for data connectivity.
The cabinets also house the fiber optic cable backbone that supports 20 other floors. Each of these has two 12-strand multimode fiber optic cables with redundant fiber optic cable paths to each floor. They also house six Cisco 6500 switches. 12 server cabinets house approximately 100 servers with fiber optic cable and Cat 5e feeds to the cabinets with Cisco switches.
A dedicated PBX room houses two Cat 5e to each of the 400 workstations, which are installed for voice communication. Multi-pair riser cables rise to each of the 20 other floors to support voice connections.
