When Wall Street tycoon William Travers guided the New York Athletic Club to purchase what would become Travers Island in 1886, he clearly wasn’t thinking about the difficulty of setting up a networked Point of Sale system.

But that was exactly the problem the NYAC encountered when they wanted to set up concession stands across their scenic summer retreat.

The NYAC contracted BBH to implement a wireless network utilizing the Orinoco WaveLAN product throughout their Traver’s Island location to support both their enterprise network and a new point of sale system.

BBH also provides ongoing support for technical and software services via a Help Desk.

The new wireless point of sales system allows NYAC to connect remote athletic venues to the main network without having to install unsightly cables between the Clubhouse, Tennis House, Yacht Area, and the Main House.

Initially used for a simple point of sale the network can be utilized more effectively over time to help the NYAC better serve its members.

Today’s versatile network technologies can ensure that no location is an island.
