Cambridge University Press publishes the finest academic and educational writing from around the world to advance learning, knowledge and research. As the organization prepared to relocate its warehouse in Nyack, they needed an IT firm that could design a data center and provide data connectivity engineering, cabling, and relocation services.
BBH engineers worked with the client to survey the new space and discuss which connectivity and cabling solution would best suit the needs of Cambridge University Press. BBH designed the data center for the new Nyack facility and evaluated the current cabling and connectivity. Based on that evaluation BBH provided engineering connectivity solutions. As part of this process BBH was also responsible to maintain project oversight and document the process including:
• Identify and document existing IT equipment to be relocated to the Nyack facility.
• Engineer solution to connect offices and new data center including fiber, copper and wireless
• Prepare computer room layout and specifications for architect to feed space planning and HVAC and electrical systems engineering.
• Prepare UPS recommendations for data center.
• Engineer fiber optic relocation design
• Prepare final warehouse connectivity scheme.
• Recommend data center racks and furniture.
• Implemented wireless warehouse 802.11b system for 500,000 square feet of coverage.
BBH provided labor and materials to install cabling to extend the service from the current termination, extend the fiber connections for the existing automated distribution to the new data center, and connect the new office, meeting and training rooms. BBH provided staff to support the project relocation and cutover.
